Description

The Mortgages Evaluations team purpose is to
* Provide data driven insight to enrich debate around key strategic issues
* Provide business case support for new product propositions and initiatives being pursued

This role offers the exciting opportunity to become a value adding member of the Mortgage, Protection and General Insurance business partnering team.

The individual will be responsible for supporting key projects (both strategic & BAU) being delivered across the Mortgages business providing expert financial business case evaluation input. A key part of the role is to provide thought leadership and constructive challenge that really helps decision makers unlock potential value opportunities.

This opportunity would present any successful candidate with an ideal opportunity to gain a deep understanding of the underlying economics of the Mortgages business, providing experience and learning within the heart of retail banking.

Responsibilities:
*Support Mortgages and the wider Retail Execs as necessary on strategic questions/projects and propositions
*Provide financial evaluation, modelling and strategic options to understand the impact both on the business unit and if appropriate the wider group business.
*Lead the grounding out of financial evaluation of Group Strategic Initiatives
*Understand complex business drivers, run sensitivity analysis/scenarios where appropriate to aid decisions being taken
*Deliver key strategic initiatives and projects (eg Mortgage Transformation) in conjunction with business partners
*Deliver stress testing tools to better understand the range of financial outcomes under various economic scenarios to help inform pricing decisions in particular
*Support grounded business case evaluations for variety of propositions and projects across Retail group
*Run sensitivities/scenarios to assess options/mitigating actions for Mortgages propositions and business cases
*Influencing key stakeholders by helping them clearly understand implications, options and recommendations being presented
*Working closely with and building exceptionally strong relationships across a host of different teams including Products, Credit Risk, Sales, Channels and rest of Finance
*Support finance and commercial teams with robust analyses and tools to help support key business questions and decisions to be taken as appropriate using value based approach

Skills:
*Qualified Accountant with a proven track record
*Good analytical skills with a solid background in a financial reporting role.
*Excellent data skills having the ability to acquire, mine, store, summarise and interpret with integrity and transparency.
*Excellent planning skills with an ability to deliver to plans.
*To be comfortable leading and challenging in a rapidly growing and changing environment.
*Able to assess the impact of change on products, systems, processes and people.
*Strong Financial modelling skills.
*Strong stakeholder manager with the ability to develop and maintain relationships with key contacts in all relevant areas.
*Financial Services experience is not essential, but someone who has worked in a large, Matrix managed organisation is required.
*Longevity in contracts
*Strong influencing and relationship building capability and experience of interacting with senior stakeholders
*Strong delivery focus with a strong desire to deliver lasting and meaningful change into the business
*A strong background in financial analysis with solid understanding of a range of financial metrics
*Preferably professional qualification eg MBA/ACA/ACCA/CIMA
*Strong analytical skill set with ability to shape and solve complex problems/the ability to think through complex issues
*Highly competent in Excel
*Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to make the complex simple
