Cobol Developer
We are seeking an experienced Cobol developer for a 6 month contract. This will be a technically challenging position. The role will require constant interaction with other developers in the team, business analysts, QA analysts, end user representatives and project management to provide development support for a client's claims entry and adjudication application. The successful candidate for this role will have a minimum of 5+ years commercial experience as a Cobol programmer in an IBM Mainframe environment using VSAM.
Responsibilities:
- Requirements analysis and application design
- Providing accurate estimates and timings to project managers
- Delivery of Cobol batch and online solutions using standard IBM Mainframe development methodologies
- Ensuring all QA procedures are satisfied in terms of process and documentation
- Bug Fixing and enhancement implementation
- Communication of designs to management and developers
Technical Profile:
- 5+ years commercial development and support experience as a Cobol programmer in a VSE, or other similar IBM Mainframe environment
- Proficient in Cobol, CICS, JCL & VSAM
- Strong batch programming skills essential
- Experience in Financial Software eg Insurance, Banking would be preferable
- Experience of MS Access, MS Excel, Inter Test for CICS, Easytrieve and Redwood Explorer would be an advantage
