Description

Illinois Legal Aid Online (ILAO) seeks a contract Drupal developer to be part of its team developing a new website platform in Drupal 7 and converting five existing websites to that platform. The developer will be a part of an agile team that will engineer web applications to meet the needs of ILAO’s users. The developer will join a team that includes 2 other Drupal developers. The work will primarily be responsible for front-end development.

This is a part-time (30 hours/week), temporary position, expected to last 3 months, starting February 1. Remote work arrangements will be considered, but only those candidates who are U.S.-based and legally authorized to work in the U.S. should apply.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop clean, efficient, maintainable code that adhere to Drupal coding standards
  • Help align projects from concept through development, QA, staging and production, and deployment
  • Work collaboratively as a part of the development team to create the new sites, to code new modules or extend existing modules
  • Collaborate with fellow developers and other members of the team where work overlaps
  • Actively participate in daily scrum and bi-weekly planning / review meetings, either in person or remotely

Skills / Competencies:

  • Minimum 2 years front-end experience developing web solutions in Drupal and PHP implementations in a LAMP environment
  • Advanced site-building experience including experience with Drupal modules such as CTools, Rules, and Views
  • Demonstrated experience with PHP, PHP files, Drupal template files and theme functions
  • Demonstrated experience building responsive websites using Drupal CMS, HTML/HTML5, CSS/CSS3, and JavaScript/JQuery
  • Demonstrated experience working with the Drupal Form API and form functions (form alters, states, ajax handling)
  • Knowledge of quality assurance practices and ability to systematically test their code
  • Thorough understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle and exposure to agile, preferably scrum
  • Experience with development, staging, and production workflows
  • Experience using Git or other version control systems
  • Exacting attention to detail and a commitment to producing quality work
  • Consistent and open communicator who can effectively interact with team members who are not developers
