Description

Quality Engineer - Contract - Hampshire - £30 - £40 per Hour

Key responsibilities:

  • Develops, modifies, applies and maintains quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials product.
  • Collaborates with engineering and Supply chain functions to ensure quality standards are in place.
  • Designs and analyses inspection and testing processes, mechanisms and equipment; conducts quality assurance tests; and performs statistical analysis to assess the cost of and determine the responsibility for, products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications.
  • Audit quality systems for deficiency identification and correction.
  • Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements.
  • May specialise in the areas of design, incoming material, production control, product evaluation and reliability, inventory control and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality.
  • May be certified in lean and six-sigma quality engineering methodologies.

Desired & Required Skills:

  • Experienced Quality Engineer having prior successes working with Build-to-Print Manufacturers and Internal Design Teams
  • Experience in Supplier Quality Assurance, especially working with large system design and manufacture sub contracts
  • Experience in the generation of proposal documentation for Quality activities within a Programme environment
  • Experience in Project Assurance and Design Assurance activities, tools and techniques
  • Management of non-conformances, trend assessment and identification of risks.
  • Experience of Material Review Boards to drive solutions to issues and develop robust preventative actions.
  • Knowledge of AS9100 and ISO9001.
  • Knowledge of Electronic/Mechanical Manufacturing and Software in the Defence sector.
  • Strong interpersonal skills: ability to initiate and maintain relationships with challenging international suppliers and manage frequent interactions with senior company management and other internal and external customers.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to various Military of Defence (MoD) facilities in support of Installation, delivery and acceptance activities
  • Ability to challenge individuals at all levels to ensure compliance to business processes, standards and requirement
