SQL Developer Required - 6months+ daily rate contract - Financial Services

A leading financial services company based in South Dublin requires an experienced SQL Developer to join a growing team and work on a number of exciting projects.

The main focus of the contract involves development and maintenance of the SQL data bases that support the transactional processing applications, including the Data Warehouse and Management Information Systems reporting tools.

The Role: SQL Developer

Location: South Dublin

Duties

Design and configuration management authority for SQL data base installation. Including all development and test environments.

Development and maintenance of Extract, Translation and Load (ETLs) configuration/programmes required to support the Data Warehouse and wider reporting environment. The performance, scalability and efficiency of these ETLs will also be a primary responsibility.

Implementation and maintenance of job schedules for production reports as agreed and required by the business.

Data quality, data cleansing, data normalization, including reconciliations, will be a key responsibility as well as investigating, understanding and resolving sources of inconsistencies with data flows.

Continuous innovation of the SQL database installation to maintain maximum performance for the transactional and reporting data base repositories. This will involve regular evaluation of new and emerging technologies for data warehousing and business reporting to ensure the DWH and MIS operations are aligned with industry best practice.

Change control for the SQL data base environments including the ETL configurations - the role will be responsible for evaluating and signing off on all changes that will affect the operation of these environments.

Development and implementation of policies for the management of database access and security in accordance with industry best practices.

Development and implementation of policies for the following but not limited to these:

Database housekeeping; data archiving.

Database performance monitoring.

Trouble shooting, incident resolution as required and continuous improvement.

What you will need:

5+ years' experience working in SQL Server development, data warehousing and business intelligence reporting environment and preferably in the financial or insurance industries.

2 years of senior team leader and/or middle management experience is also required.

Proficient in Microsoft SQL server, relationship database management systems, ETL development and implementation as well as data mining techniques and tools.

Proficient in SQL Server Integration Services.

Demonstrable understanding of the IT systems development life cycle and data governance processes.

Good project management skills and ability to manage the delivery of several projects with DWH and MIS dependencies simultaneously.

University degree in Computer Science or related field (e.g. mathematically science).

Financial services background is a bonus.

This is an excellent contract opportunity for an experienced SQL Contractor to work in a hugely successful financial services company with the latest technologies. The initial contract is for 6 months with a strong likelihood of extension.
