Specific Job Description

2 x Mechanical Design Engineers to support SV Trainer Data Pack completion

The job involves a wide range of mechanical design skills including:

Working within and promoting the use of the LMUK Ampthill Product Development Processes (PDP), which provides the guidance, instructions and controls need to deliver a high end product.

Use of CREO2 (Pro-Engineer), from concept through to final engineering data package

The ability to produce technical documentation to support all activities, from trade studies to final assembly instructions

Communicating with all stakeholders from Project Management through to Manufacturing, to ensure all views are gauged and understood before, during and after delivery of the detailed design

The ability to lead small scale design tasks, resourcing the support needed to deliver, while ensuring the cost and schedule achievement of the task

Experience of Armoured Fighting Vehicles would be beneficial

Skills and experience required;

Required Skills:

The core competences and qualifications for the job are:

- Able to understand System Requirements and have the ability to incorporate these into the design

- Able to understand, interpret and produce complex engineering drawings and specifications

- The ability to operate CREO2 (Pro-Engineer) CAD in the execution of daily activities

- Strong team player with good written and verbal communication skills

Desired Skills:

The role requires the working knowledge of the following skills, hence, experience in these areas will be an advantage:

- SAP

- Windchill Product Data Management

- Microsoft Office tool set

Education;

Ideally require a Bachelors degree from an accredited college and capability typically achieved through demonstrable professional experience. Will also consider individuals with equivalent experience/combined education. Considered an emerging authority

Researches, plans, designs and develops mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines.
