An Systems engineer is required to join a leading technology company based in Birmingham, who specialise in the R&D sector. The company are looking to bring their development in-house, and this would be to replace a team member to help lead the software and electronics design.
Role: Systems Engineer
Salary: £40,000 - £60,000k DOE
Location: Birmingham
The Role:
- Responsible for the software aspects of design and the successful integration with all software automotive management systems.
- Liaising with customers, suppliers, sales and installation teams as well as all in-house staff.
- Improve efficiency of the software design process, including fully testing and control of releases.
- Leading software design reviews as required to review ideas and schemes from other engineers and contractors.
Key Skills:
  • Highly motivated and self-starting individual with effective leadership skills. Strong organisational, project management and communication skills essential.
  • Thorough understanding of system engineering principles and the software development lifecycle.
  • Software requirements authoring and decomposition to software units, and requirements and change management tools (e.g. IBM Rational DOORS, RTC or similar).
  • Development and execution of robust test plan, including validation techniques such as HIL and test automation.
  • Knowledge vehicle electrical architectures and protocols including CAN bus, Flexray, automotive diagnostics and related system development tools (CANalyzer, CANape, diagnostics tools etc.)
  • Experience in logical, physical system architectures, functional & non-functional requirements design
  • Understanding of Quality methods
  • Experience with real time control systems design
  • Experience of component, system and vehicle level issue investigations Experience of Software development and delivery Diagnostic System Strategy & Implementation
  • Vehicle Network & configuration System Strategy & Implementation
  • Requirements Capture & Design
  • Functional Safety
  • Previous experience of automotive software delivery. ADAS experience preferred but strong candidates from other backgrounds will also be considered.
