Systems Engineer - upto 45k
An Systems engineer is required to join a leading technology company based in Birmingham, who design vehicle information systems as they are a major Tier 1 supplier. The company are looking to grow their team due to expansion plans with the team.

Role: Systems Engineer
Salary: upto 45K DOE
Location: Birmingham
The Role:

* To lead or contribute to investigations into problems, issues and queries within the scope of allocated project or projects.
* To lead the tracking of external customer's technical requirements through to the internal departments and the resulting software releases within the scope of allocated project or projects.
* Responsible for leading, overseeing or contributing to the review of the external customer's specifications and the handling of any resulting issues.
* Responsible for the planning, overseeing and design of Vehicle integration, System integration and software test specifications.
* Analysis of the Vehicle, System integration and software test results to validate software operation.
* Production of documentations to satisfy internal and external deliverables.
* Supervision of junior staff for specific short term activities including specification reviews, test specification preparation and test activities.
* Responsible for producing and maintaining the Systems Engineering timing plan that shows the required activities and key timing points for a given project.
* Have a good understanding of the Systems Engineering discipline and the defined internal processes and procedures thus enabling an active involvement in improving the department's quality system.

Key Skills:
  • Highly motivated and self-starting individual with effective leadership skills. Strong organisational, project management and communication skills essential.
  • Thorough understanding of system engineering principles and the software development lifecycle.
  • Software requirements authoring and decomposition to software units, and requirements and change management tools (e.g. IBM Rational DOORS, RTC or similar).
  • Development and execution of robust test plan, including validation techniques such as HIL and test automation.
  • Knowledge vehicle electrical architectures and protocols including CAN bus, Flexray, automotive diagnostics and related system development tools (CANalyzer, CANape, diagnostics tools etc.)
  • Experience in logical, physical system architectures, functional & non-functional requirements design
  • Understanding of Quality methods
  • Experience with real time control systems design
  • Experience of component, system and vehicle level issue investigations Experience of Software development and delivery Diagnostic System Strategy & Implementation
  • Vehicle Network & configuration System Strategy & Implementation
  • Requirements Capture & Design
  • Functional Safety
  • Previous experience of automotive software delivery. ADAS experience preferred but strong candidates from other backgrounds will also be considered.


Desirable Skills:

* Knowledge of development work process & quality management (based on Automotive SPICE (ISO15504), CMMI or other recognised Automotive Standard)
* Technical knowledge with respect to Systems Engineering for Electrical and Mechanical disciplines
