Description

SCADA, PLC, Control System, railway engineering design, operational modelling and capacity planning, assurance, systems engineering, engineering management, RAMS, engineering safety management and electromagnetic compatibility as required on a project by project basis.

This role is with our Public Sector client based in Manchester in the Transport industry. This is a Manager level position and will have direct reports.
The incumbent is expected to be knowledgeable in at least one of the core activities delivered by the unit and to, in due course, develop into a rounded Railway Consultant who can deliver or manage multiple activities.
Position Responsibilities
Experience with PLC's and SCADA systems
Experience with Control Systems
Manage configuration of IT Systems
Prepare and submit reports, studies, models and similar documentation
Participate and in some cases lead workshops, reviews and preparation of documents for activities such as: Assurance Gateways, Interdisciplinary Reviews, HAZID and HAZOP, Railway Safety Cases, Value Engineering and Risk Management.
Act as client facing Team Leader on selected projects
Operate within quality standards and procedures
Assist or lead the preparation of bids and tender submissions

Minimum Requirements
. Systems engineering and technical assurance
. RAMS analysis including use of application software
. Engineering Safety Management
. Electro Magnetic Compatibility
. Risk identification analysis and mitigation - the ALARP Principle
Knowledge:
Railway operations and systems
Conversant with railway design safety principles HSE/HMRI, railway safety standards -eg ROGS and engineering safety management - Yellow Book.
Project management techniques and processes
A working knowledge of the railway industry procedures and practices
Be conversant with the requirements of EN 50216 RAMS Railway Applications
Preferred Qualifications

Qualifications:
Technical University Degree preferably in Systems, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
Associate Member of an Engineering or Railway Institution
Master's Degree in Railway Systems, Railway Operations or Safety would be an advantage

Experience:

A railway specific discipline such as track, trackbed, civil and structures, power, signalling, telecommunications
Railway operational modelling and capacity planning
Systems engineering and technical assurance, including requirements and configuration management and systems integration, ideally gained within the rail industry

.Risk identification analysis and mitigation - the ALARP Principle
.Engineering Safety Management in the railway industry
.Electro Magnetic Compatibility analysis
