Description
A versatile, experienced Systems engineer is require to join one of the world leaders in the design and manufacture of satellite systems, based in Portsmouth. The successful candidate will join team of engineers working on the design of the flight operations system for the Galileo constellation of satellites. This will be a six month contract role initially with potential for extension.
The successful candidate will report to the Head of System Engineer and will take on significant responsibilities within the design team. The candidate must be able to demonstrate experience within a large technical complex programme.
Tasks & accountabilities
Your main tasks and responsibilities will be software systems engineering within the GCS (Ground Control Segment) design team.
Essentials
Requirements analysis and functional decomposition;
Design of software systems architectures
Authoring of technical specifications.
Interface definition;
Technical review of software subsystems
Technical analysis of system design issues;
Desirable skills
Experience in the following areas would be beneficial but not essential:
- Deployment and integration of Satellite Flight Operations System and infrastructure;
- Knowledge of Flight Operations components, especially ESOC products
- Software Detailed Design, Implementation and Deployment
- Virtualised Infrastructures
- Satellites Ground Stations, (Telemetry and Telecommand)
- UML/SysML
- Network Architectures
- Security Constraints and Architectures
- System Performance budgeting;
- Interaction with the customer and suppliers
- Support for the deployment and verification of system
Some international travel will be required for business trips (eg Fucino Italy and Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany) for which expenses will be paid in line with the Company Expense Policy.
