Description

Commercial Officer - Contract - Dorset - 6 months - £300 a day

Key responsibilities:

The role is effectively split into 2 main activities:

Bid Management activity:

  • The customer will submit a RFQ (Request for Quote) which must be completed with 60 days of receipt.
  • One the RFQ is completed and returned to the customer they will then issue a Purchase Order.
  • Supporting the Commercial and Contract Management Teams.

Purchase Order administration:

  • Will be required to complete 3/4 PO's per week, these are highly complex low volume/high value typically running into millions of $'s.

Overall duties will involve:

  • Verifies that customer orders reflect companies commitments to the customer as reflected in the proposal and any subsequent negotiations.
  • Flows the requirements of the contract to responsible departments within the company.
  • Manages contract change to maximize opportunities. Organize the governance reviews and supporting data necessary to submit customer proposals for Bid Approval Committee review.
  • To support bid preparation and ensure proposal are submitted on time.
  • To monitor and maintain Commercial Governance and ensure CMS's commercial exposure is minimized.
  • Ensures that the obligations of the contract are fulfilled throughout the performance period and ensure contract terms are coordinated with relevant technical specifications and statements of work.
  • Maintains positive relations with customers by personal, phone and written communication relative to contract problems, status of orders, specific problems and general marketing trends applicable to account assignments.
  • Provide commercial support to the Commercial department in general and the Commercial managers in particular.
  • Maximise margins and ensure Company is protected in terms of legalities and liabilities.
  • Proposal preparation and presentations, associated documents (in particular Tender Vets) Maintain and challenge Company processes and procedures to support best practice.

Skills/Experience:

  • Previous experience as a Commercial Officer within a complex, highly safety critical environment (Aerospace/Defence or Oil & Gas and Pharmaceuticals).
  • Has previously experience of processing low volume/high value Purchase Orders.
  • Has experience of Bid Management and to a lesser degree Contract Management.
  • Aerospace and Defence preferred, although will also consider people from Oil & Gas and Pharmaceuticals
