Description

Electro-Mechanical Technician - Contract - Gloucestershire - Excellent Rates!

To maintain a variety of electro-mechanical equipment within an Embedded customer team.

Main Accountabilities:

  • Conduct optical and electrical installation tasks, both onsite and at field sites including, but not limited to:

    • Installation of Line Replaceable Units (LRUs) into racks
    • AC and DC power distribution installation/commissioning and maintenance
    • Management of workshop space, tools, spares and equipment used to maintain LRUs
    • Testing of installed components
    • PAT testing
    • Asset and consumable spares management, control and ordering
    • Fault finding and repair of electronic circuit boards to component level

  • Production of Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) if required for new tasks. Review and maintenance of existing RAMS
  • Liaison with customer to ensure efficient and cost-effective delivery of contract requirements
  • Provide bespoke engineering solutions to technical issues using in-house workshop or main workshop facilities
  • Liaison with external maintainers/suppliers to ensure equipment availability
  • Monitoring stocks of spares and reordering as required

Person Specification:

A professional technician providing engineering and logistics support to an existing engineering team including:

  • To possess planning skills to optimise use of workshop space
  • To be a team worker, but able to work unsupervised
  • To be IT literate and able to learn new IT skills
  • To be able to build and maintain excellent relationships with internal and external customers
  • To be able to communicate technically with external professionals in order to give systems advice
  • To know how to identify and exploit future business development opportunities.
  • To be highly committed and self-motivated with a desire to contribute to the success of the business
  • To liaise with the contract management as required providing mechanical and electrical knowledge, drawings and inputs to meet contract requirements and time lines
  • To demonstrate the capability to adapt to changing circumstances
  • To possess sound judgement capabilities, to enable appropriate decisions to be made under pressure, based on a variety of sources of information

Knowledge, Qualification and Experience:

  • Must possess, or be able to obtain and retain DV clearance.
  • C&G 2391 or Electrical Test/Inspect or C&G 1687 Electrical and Electronics Servicing, C&G 2357 Electro Technical Technology, C&G 2356 Electrotechnical Services and Systems or equivalent qualifications
  • C&G 2377 PAT Testing
  • Ability to report clearly on events both verbally and in written form, including good technical specification, applicable to a broad audience, both internally and externally.
  • Computer literate. A regular user of Microsoft Office (including Word and Excel) or similar packages.
  • Use of asset management software for the accurate logging of equipment and their associated movements
  • COSHH awareness

Desirable Knowledge, Qualification and Experience:

  • Be an Eng Tech or Incorporated Engineer or Member of an appropriate organisation, or willing to work towards such membership within one year of appointment.
  • Experience of working within secure environments.
  • Working knowledge mechanical equipment or outside interests that include mechanical equipment maintenance

Technical

  • Basic IT literacy
  • Good electrical safety and maintenance skills
