Description
INCIDENT MANAGEROur client, an international company leader in the pharmaceutical industry based in the area of Basel, Switzerland, is looking for an Incident Manager who wants to join their global team. The project will begin ASAP and take place at least until December 2016.
ROLE PURPOSE
- Support of the (software) infrastructure stack of IT applications (mainly web applications) running in a virtualized environment. This includes Storage, OS (Linux, Windows), Database (Oracle, SQL Server…), Application Servers (Apache, Tomcat, IIS, JBOSS…), Authentication Method (Kerberos, Active Directory), Network (DNS, routing)
- Ensure IT Infrastructure availability to prevent application outages of lived applications
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Monitor IT infrastructure and handle alert to prevent or to address application disruptions
- Troubleshoot incidents to identify root causes and organize resolution
- Whenever possible, fix incidents by taking appropriate actions on the infrastructure
- If not, coordinate with experts (colleague within the Operations team, Build Team) to get resolution
- Communicate appropriately to customers (Application Support Team, end users and management) about incidents and resolutions
- Escalate incidents reoccurrence (problem) and help to remediate by taking preventive actions
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS / MEASURES OF SUCCESS
- Ensure stable and well performing system environment.
- Ensure short time resolution and minimal impact on users
- Improve overall IT infrastructure stability (decrease number of outages)
JOB DIMENSION
- Member of a global team of 15+ Operations professionals with different technical skills
- Infrastructure deployed on all NIBR sites globally
- 6000 end users
- 3000+ servers
- 700+ applications
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
- 6+ years of experience on different IT roles covering at least 3 technologies amongst OS, Application Sever, Database, Network, IAM (authentication)
- 5+ Experience in large datacenter environment (300+ servers)
- 2+ Experience with Monitoring and Alerting tools
- Knowledge of Linux (Red Hat) and Windows (2008, 2012) operations
- Knowledge of the full stack of web applications including connections (Web Service calls, JDBC calls)
- Knowledge of Cloud environment (AWS) is a plus
- Knowledge of web application development is a plus
- Knowledge of automation tool (Puppet, CHEF) is a plus
