Description

Senior Linux System Administrator

The candidate will be an experienced Senior Linux Administrator/Engineer focused on Redhat who is looking for a more challenging role. It is an excellent opportunity to be part of a skilled Global UNIX team who look after Linux, Solaris, Cloud, SAN, Netbackup and HP C-Class Blade estates. The successful candidate will be heavily involved with operational incident and request support, proactive platform management, engineering and strategy.

Personal/Professional Attributes:

The ideal candidate will be a personable engineer with excellent communication skills and the ability to liase with both business users and customers in IT at all technical levels.

You should be confident and comfortable to work independently and solve issues without the need for escalation as this is a fast-paced, high-pressured environment.

Key Skills:
  • Excellent working Knowledge of Redhat Linux
  • Kickstart, LDAP/AD, DNS, Samba, Sudo, NFS, SFTP and NTP.
  • Good knowledge and experience with shell scripting.
  • Puppet, Redhat Satellite and other Configuration Management /Automation Systems an advantage.
  • Experience with both HP and Sun equipment and up to mid-range servers.


Desirable:
  • Virtualisation (VMWARE, Vsphere, etc.)
  • HP C-Class Blade Infrastructure.
  • Netapp, HP XP/HDS, and/or HP 3PAR SANs.
  • Brocade Fibre switches
  • Veritas Netbackup.
  • Enterprise monitoring systems (HP Openview, Nagios)
  • ITIL based Service Management tools.
  • Solaris 8 and 10.
  • Veritas Clustering.
  • Any experience of Cloud computing services is a bonus.


Experience:
  • Demonstrates strong experience in 2nd/3rd line technical support as a Unix & Storage Administrator/Engineer.
  • Demonstrates strong experience of Redhat Linux administration and support.
  • Demonstrates experience in Veritas (Symantec) Netbackup.
  • Experience of ITIL v3 standards or a certificate in ITIL v3 foundation skills beneficial
  • Experience in Veritas products, Netbackup and VCS
  • Redhat RHCT or RHCE a definite advantage


Contract Length: 6 months with a view to extension

Daily Rate: Competitive market rate
