Description
A leading bank are currently in need of an experienced Infrastructure Solution Architect. This is a long term contract role paying a very competitive daily rate. These opportunities are based in either the bank's London, Sheffield or Stirling officesThe ideal candidate will have an understanding of the banking industry and also should be able to translate business needs into appropriate IT solutions. They will need to have a system engineering background and the ability to compare and contrast different solutions to meet a business requirement.
They will need to have in-depth conceptual functional and non-functional knowledge of:
Networking (Cisco, TCP/UDP, Broadcast/Multicast, LAN/WAN)
Server Operating systems internals, benchmarking and performance tuning (Linux, Windows, Solaris), CPU Microarchitectures (Intel, AMD, SPARC) & Server Virtulization (VMware, Xen, Hyper-V, KVM)
Storage (EMC SAN - FC, FCoE, iSCSI, SRDF; NetApp NAS - CIFS, NFS)
Databases (Oracle & MS SQL; VCS & MSCS)
Middleware and Grid (IBM MQ & Platform, WebServices)
Web applications servers (Apache HTTP Server & Tomcat, IIS, Websphere)
Databases (Oracle RAC, Sybase, Apache Hadoop & Hbase)
Middleware and Grid (Tibco RV & Datasynapse)
In Memory Distributed Data Grid (Oracle Coherence)
End to end agile infrastructure architecture across all layers
DevOps methodology
Cloud, PCF, AWS
Java/ Java GUI, XML/ XSLT, HTML/ Java Script
Passion for technology & understanding how things work
Hadoop experience would be beneficial
Candidates will also need to demonstrate:
A track record of delivering significant change which improves business effectiveness in sustainable ways
Excellent written and spoken communication skills with experience of successfully influencing others
