Mainframe, WebSphere Application Server, WebSphere MQ Series, z/OS

For our market leading client based in Ireland, Eurostaff are looking for 3x Mainframe support Specialists

Senior level team member within the technical support team to include the system programming support, version migration support, installation, configuration and maintenance of the WebSphere environment on the zSeries platform. Additional duties include the evaluation and integration of new technologies; advanced support issues to insure high availability; coordination and communication; and consulting compliance with all policies, principles and directives.

Skills and experience:

(1) 4 years of systems programming experience on the zSeries (Mainframe) platform supporting WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment with a 4 year college degree in computer science or equivalent 6 years of systems programming experience on the zSeries platform supporting WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment.

2) Recent WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment migration experience including from version 6.1 to version 8.5.

(3) In depth working knowledge of the capabilities and use of WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment installation and customization in a large scale high availability deployment manager infrastructure.

(4) Thorough working knowledge of the capabilities and use of WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment Scripting administration in a large scale high availability deployment manager infrastructure including applications deployment.

(5) Detailed working knowledge of WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment and zSeries performance monitoring software.

(6) 6-10 years exposure to other zSeries platform components including "hands on" technical experience supporting CICS TS, DB2, IMS, MQSeries, Webservices, and OEM products.

(7) Thorough working knowledge and experience with the use of IBM's SMP/E and/or IBM installation manager.

(8) Strong debugging, dump and trace processing/review skills. In this area, JAVA Enterprise Edition (JAVA EE or J2EE) application programming experience is a plus.

(9) Self-motivated and able to work independently. Must be able to multi-task and work under short deadlines and in high pressure situations.

(10) Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation).

(11) Exposure to datapower administration is a plus.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

(1) Fulfill customer service orders (CSOs) for zSeries Mainframe customers in a timely manner as they pertain to WebSphere Application Server and other associated zSeries Mainframe components such as CICS TS, DB2, IMS, MQSeries, Webservices, and related OEM software products.

(2) Provide primary support for reported problems related to zSeries Mainframe WebSphere Application Server and associated zSeries Mainframe components such as CICS TS, DB2, IMS, MQSeries, Webservices and related OEM software products.

(3) Provide support on 24 x 7 x 365 basis and in multiple time zones.

(4) Follow procedures for installing OEM software products efficiently and according to the companies best practices (for productivity/scalability purposes).

(5) Work with members of other functional groups in preparing customer partitions for regular (approximately once per year) operating system upgrade process via a checklist of proactive actions.

(6) Provide key support for customer migration services (new customer transitions) as they pertain to WebSphere Application Server and other components such as CICS TS, DB2, IMS, MQSeries, Webservices, and related OEM software products.

(7) Assist the assigned project manager (from the PMO - Program Management Office) in the migration of newly acquired customers such that all technical hurdles are addressed in a timely manner and do not impede the expected progress of the transition nor the targeted migration date.

(8) In joint cooperation with the Manager of Disaster Recovery Services, successfully execute tasks associated with any given customer's disaster recovery plans.

(9) Adhere to a schedule that efficiently manages the companies resources and allows timely implementations.

(10) Follow change control procedures when implementing vendor product specific corrections ("fixes") and upgrading, maintaining, enhancing or providing new options to applicable zSeries products within any given customer system.
