KEY SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
(1) 10 years of systems programming experience on the zSeries (Mainframe) platform supporting z/OS.
(2) Recent z/OS migration experience including from version 1.13 to version 2.1.
(3) In depth working knowledge of the capabilities and use of z/OS installation and customization in a parallel sysplex environment.
(4) Exposure to other zSeries platform components including "hands on" technical experience supporting CICS, DB2, IMS and MQ.
(5) Thorough working knowledge and experience in the use of IBM's SMP/E product.
(6) Strong SA z/OS, TCPIP and USS skills required.
(7) Self-motivated and able to work independently. Must be able to multi-task and work under short deadlines and in high pressure situations.
(8) Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation).
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
(1) Fulfill customer service orders (CSOs) for zSeries Mainframe customers in a timely manner as they pertain to z/OS and other associated zSeries Mainframe components such as SA z/OS, USS, TCPIP and ISV software products.
(2) Provide primary support for reported problems related to zSeries Mainframe z/OS and associated zSeries Mainframe components.
(3) Provide support on 24 x 7 x 365 basis and in multiple time zones.
(4) Follow procedures for installing OEM software products efficiently and according to the companies best practices (for productivity/scalability purposes).
(5) Work with members of other functional groups in preparing customer partitions for operating system upgrade process via a checklist of proactive actions.
(6) Provide key support for customer migration services (new customer transitions) as they pertain to z/OS and other components such as CICS, DB2, IMS, MQ and related OEM software products.
(7) Assist the assigned project manager (from the PMO - Program Management Office) in the migration of newly acquired customers such that all technical hurdles are addressed in a timely manner and do not impede the expected progress of the transition nor the targeted migration date.
(8) In joint cooperation with the Manager of Disaster Recovery Services, successfully execute tasks associated with any given customer's disaster recovery plans.
(9) Adhere to a schedule that efficiently manages the companies resources and allows timely implementations.
(10) Follow change control procedures when implementing vendor product specific corrections ("fixes") and upgrading, maintaining, enhancing or providing new options to applicable zSeries products within any given customer system.
