Position Title: Core Systems Administrator - II

Job Summary

A primary duty is the administration of the following systems: IBM iSeries computer, Jack Henry's SilverLake core accounting system, interactive voice response unit (IVR), Patriot Officer Bank Secrecy software, Guardian Officer fraud monitoring software, and Report Archive system (COLD). Administrative tasks include patching and update installation. Technical support for Windows/iSeries automatic job scheduler. Manage security for internal access to the systems administrated. Assist in the assessment of new software systems; particularly those relating to or interfacing with the Silverlake platform.

Control-Related and Security-Related Responsibilities

  • On-line Terminal access - Human Resources is to notify Network Operations and Data Security Administrator of terminations by e-mail as they occur. Users are to be removed from both network authorization as well as core accounting access.
  • On a yearly basis, the Data Security Administrator will send out a listing of menu access rights to applicable managers to ensure that the menu system accurately reflects employees and their duties.
  • The Data Security Administrator administers and enforces security on the IBM iSeries system and related applications. This includes all user accounts, roles, and system security related parameters. 
  • Essential Job Responsibilities

    • Reviews technology to streamline processes, ensure high availability of systems, increase security and facilitate disaster recovery.
    • Recommends, in conjunction with network administrators, capital expenditures for new technology.
    • Responsible for data security administration which includes the following:
      • Assign core and related electronic data access privileges to employees.
      • Assign and administer Jack Henry Systems employee access profiles
      • With the Microsoft Administrator, investigate electronic data security breaches to identify bank risks. Also, define composition of passwords and define periodic password changes.
      • Conduct annual survey of the current SilverLake and COLD report systems. Determine if modifications to user menus or individual user access is necessary.
    • When consulted, confers with System Analyst Manager and users to clarify process intent, output requirements, input data acquisition and requirements for internal checks and controls.
    • When consulted, collaborates with Systems Analyst Manager, to determine if custom vendor modifications, process procedures, reports or custom interfaces are required.
    • Assist with establishing appropriate system interfaces, or complex report processes. 
    • Document and record non-vendor custom processes in accordance with F&M Bank procedures.
    • Assist computer operations staff to resolve issues encountered in operational runs.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Education and Experience

    • College degree in IT/IS or a related business major preferred.
    • Individual must have in-depth knowledge of systems hardware, SQL and database administration.
    • Familiarity with IBM iSeries or other midrange/Mainframe systems.
    • 2-3 years experience in administering a core banking application

    Skills

    • The individual must be detail-oriented and be able to organize projects, prioritize workflow and complete multiple tasks simultaneously and accurately.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills must be demonstrated. The ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing, in a professional and effective manner, with bank personnel. These skills must be demonstrated.
    • Exercise good judgment, initiative and tact in dealing with management, supervisors and employees.
    • Present a professional, business-like manner and appearance

    Prefered Skills:

    • Understanding of Jack Henry SilverLake systems preferred.
    • Working knowledge of IBM Query Manager, SQL, CL, PDM, Client Access and IBM iSeries; C# also preferred. Ability to reformat third party data. Know appropriate tools to create reports, extract files and automate data imports. Proficient in common Microsoft Office tools such as Excel, Access, Word, etc.
