Sr Financial Analyst

Description:

  • The Privacy & Security Program (P&S) is a multi-year initiative to coordinate efforts and build a cohesive strategy to continue to protect our members from threats. The P&S Financial Senior Analyst will be part of the IT Finance team in support of the P&S Program led by the Chief Security Officer and Chief Technology Risk Officer.

  • The Financial Senior Analyst is a client facing role responsible for coordinating the development of business cases and track analytics supporting the processes that produce the strategic financial plan, annual budgets, quarterly cost center forecasts, monthly IT investment forecasts, and monthly reporting and analysis of results related to Information Technology P&S Clients. The Analyst will perform cost center and project budgeting, forecasting and long range financial planning, variance analysis and reporting, interpretation of quantitative information, financial modelling and assist in the creation of presentations for upper management review. The Analyst will work with external and internal teams and IT business partners to understand the various business needs and drivers and report them in a clear and concise manner.

  • This position is also responsible for developing and maintaining detailed and actionable reporting related to P&S program budgeting and forecasting processes, including supply/demand labor analysis, and the monthly close process. The Financial Senior Analyst will provide data and insights to other financial analysts supporting the P&S program to ensure that the P&S clients' financial needs are met in a timely, accurate and professional manner. The Financial Senior Analyst will collect, organize, and analyze the data in order to produce easy to use reports and actionable analyses for use by P&S clients as well as the analyst's management team.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or a related field required, Masters degree preferred.

  • A minimum of 6 years financial analysis or related experience.

  • Broad application of financial analysis principles, theories, and concepts in applicable discipline, plus working knowledge of other related fields.

  • Advanced proficiency in PC based word processing and spreadsheet applications, including advanced functions such as graphics, pivot tables, macros and database management.

  • Thorough knowledge of financial analysis policies, practices and systems.

  • Complete understanding and application of financial analysis principles, concepts, practices, and standards.

  • Highly developed knowledge of finance theories such as presents values theory/cash flow analysis and accounting principles.

  • Able to formulate finance study designs and prepare and conduct professional presentations.

  • Full knowledge of industry practices and standards.

  • A minimum of 1 year experience providing financial planning and analysis support to an IT organization or department.

  • General knowledge and understanding of accounting rules and principles.

  • Proven initiative and self-directed style.

  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.

  • Strong analytical and proactive problem solving skills.

  • Ability to work under demanding and tight deadlines with a high level of accuracy as both originator and reviewer.

  • Confidentiality concerning all information and projects.

  • Proficiency with Business Objects, Cognos and Access referred.
