FULL STACK DEVELOPER - PHP, Backbone.js, RESTful API's

JOB DESCRIPTION
Our client is working with a company on the largest project in that company's long history creating a modern content platform. It will enable their audience, editors, and advertisers to react to the world in Real Time when making decisions around content publishing and revenue generation. We are using modern web technologies to build an open, service-oriented platform driven by big data and APIs.
Your day to day will resemble a technology start-up company but with the comfort of knowing a large corporation is funding a successful launch. We're maximizing the potential of talented and passionate Software Engineers to build out this new platform. The ideal team member has extensive experience writing clean code, building and working with RESTful APIs, has worked in cloud based environments and likes being part of a collaborative team.
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Be part of the team that will build and evolve this cutting edge content platform. We're looking for you to:
- Participate in software design decisions
- Write code that is efficient and extensible and well structured
- Be an active part of the larger internal community of developers
Have demonstrable experience with:
- Building RESTful APIs
- Building applications in PHP (YiiFramework - desirable but not essential) (Python and/or Ruby on Rails also helpful)
- Developing in backbone.js, D3 and GO
- Experience with PostGreSQL or like databases
- Some exposure to working with Content Management Systems and Online Video Platforms
- Working in an Agile development team (Scrum highly desired)
- Working with Linux and Amazon Web Services (AWS)
- Performance tuning/caching strategies (redis, memcache)
- Git/Github
- Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence, Hipchat) a plus
- Test driven development
OTHER INFORMATION:
- This role requires you to be in our client's offices in New York City (not far from Central Park)
- The initial contract is six months with a strong probability of continuing far longer
