Description
A Global Renewable Energy client is looking for a Site GIS Specialist for the day to day site GIS task for their offshore wind farm project. This is anticipated to be a 12 months freelance contract to start approx. 1st April 2016 up until 31st March 2017 with the possibility of further extensions, 8 hours a day in average.
Our client is looking for a Site GIS Specialist with a sound knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS and with experience with WebGIS solution (ArcGIS Server). Experience in working with editing and loading to multiuser databases. The Consultant would have awareness of projections and transformations, perform GIS editing and conversion, create metadata to The Crown Estates's MEDIN metadata standard.
Tasks:
- Handle all geographical data
- Perform analysis of geographical data for consent, foundation, Substation, electrical, WTG, design, site investigation management, including advice on cable optimisation and lay-out
- Specify GIS data deliveries from external suppliers and QC all GIS data
- Create charts and presentations
- Maintain an up to date geographical information database
- Set up project-specific WindGIS
- Update and analyse environmental, archaeological, UXO and other man-made constrains for planning, lay-out, surveys and installation
- Scope and manage site GIS activities
- Introduce site organisation to GIS and WindGIS including clarification of needs for additional functionality or data available in the web solution
- Keep continuous dialog with site and project to secure that requirements are met
- Discuss, negotiate with relevant engineers
Qualifications:
- MSc or other relevant Master degree in GIS
- Knowledge of UK and European environmental datasets
- 1 - 2 years of experience working with offshore wind farms or similar
