My client a leading Cork based company are looking for an experienced Oracle DBA to join their team on an initial 6 month contract. The ideal candidate will have experience working in an Oracle 12c environment
Overview of role:
- Database management and administration of Oracle systems.
- Provide day-to-day DBA operational support including database performance tuning, backup and recovery, and high availability tasks.
- Pivotal figure in an Oracle upgrade project from 9i to 12c
- Capacity planning, monitoring, auditing, database/application performance optimization.
- Proactively suggest/implement database and application patches, new releases and actively contribute to future system design and direction.
- Developing, updating and applying procedures supporting data security and integrity.
- Maintaining systems access and controls.
- Managing and monitoring scheduled DBA jobs/tasks.
- Administering software installations and upgrades.
- Liaising with external resources/service providers with regards on-going project work
Skills required:
- At least 5 years DBA experience within a busy business operation.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills required.
- Oracle 12c experience would be ideal but not essential
- WebSphere, Weblogic and Apache administration experience desirable.
- Knowledge of Replication & High Availability products (Oracle Dataguard, Oracle RAC, etc) is desirable.
- Knowledge of industry-standard methodologies, tools and environments.
