Enterprise Oracle DBA contract

A leading Irish public sector entity are looking to add 2 Oracle DBAs to their database team for a 36 month contract. This public body have secured government funding to improve their systems by increasing their average application developments per month. This is a golden opportunity for you to secure a great daily rate contract that is also challenging.

Role: Oracle DBA

Duration: 36 months daily rate contract

Location: Dublin City Centre

Start date: 1st of May 2016

X-Factor: Security of a long contract and a daily rate to match.

Day to DayYou will be installing and upgrading the Oracle software, this includes maintaining and creating the physical schemas, generating the appropriate databases and data objects, administering roles and users, ensuring data integrity, performance tuning, fault reporting, ongoing monitoring, startups and shutdowns, backups and restores, recovery procedures, providing database advice, deal with questions from users, ensure the DB is linked to the n-tier architecture, prepare standard and procedures documentation. Be prepared for the exchange of information and skills transfer between colleagues.

You will have 37.5 hour working week and there is a requirement for one team member to be scheduled for on call duty outside of working hours. This is rotated. Also there's an early shift from 7.30 to 16:00 and also a late shift from 12.30 to 21:00.

The EnvironmentThis is a four person DBA team, responsible for developing, maintaining and supporting the key n-tier technologies including Linux, HP storage, Oracle Database and Oracle Application Servers [iAS and Weblogic], Oracle reports, BI Publisher. Also responsibility is for the ancillary databases used by other public sector areas. The team is quite busy and on average develop 40 application deployments per month and handle around 8,000 end-user requests per year, as well as the normal monitoring, troubleshooting and upgrade tasks.

Skills/Experience:3 years+ experience delivering solutions, working with:
  • Oracle Certified [11g or 12c], a copy must be submitted with the CV to apply for this job
  • Oracle RAC (10c, 11g, 12c)
  • GIS data experience/Oracle Spatial
  • Worked with a database over the size of 4 TB
  • Worked with Oracle RDBMS in a Unix/Linux n-tier environment
  • Managed a DB environment that is shared between multiple (30+) bespoke applications
