For our client in Amsterdam we are looking for a Citrix Migration Architect/Engineer.
Background
Within the clients IT landscape there is currently a Citrix XenApp platform that is being used to publish (business) client applications for business users. Within the client initiatives are started to upgrade this platform to a newer version. The target will be Citrix XenApp 7.6 platform.
Role & Responsibilities
The Citrix migration architect/engineer is responsible for designing the target Citrix XenApp 7.6 platform based on the current Citrix XenApp platform and its architecture. Based on the design the platform needs to be built by the Citrix architect/engineer after which client application migrations will be executed from the current to target platform.
The main architect/engineer activities are:
- Design the target Citrix XenApp 7.6 platform based on the current architecture and documentation standards and align the solution with all (architect) stakeholders.
-Prepare server provisioning requests based on design documentation and analysis of current server infrastructure
-Installation and documentation of the required installation activities
-Migrate client applications from current Citrix platform to the target Citrix platform. Perform installations or deployments on DTAP environments together with the application support teams
-Assist during UAT and troubleshoot technical issues
-Define and align migration and cut-over approach
-Prepare go-live run books & deliver input for change requests
-Execute production cut-over / go-lives of the client applications to the new platform
-Prepare and request server decommissioning requests of current Citrix platform once migration is complete
-Handover to run and provide support during aftercare
Skills
The Citrix architect/engineer is an experienced specialist in Citrix XenApp design, build and migrations. This person understands the architecture and infrastructure requirements in order to deliver this project scope:
-Knowledge and experience of designing the latest versions of Citrix XenApp platforms
-Knowledge and experience in building a Citrix XenApp platform
-Experience in (client) application migrations to Citrix XenApp platforms
-Coordination for the design, installation and migration of applications to target platform. Perform troubleshooting activities together with application support teams
-Strong team player
-Communication skills
-Ability to think out of the box and willing to take the extra step in order to meet the project timelines
