Senior FIX Messaging & App Support - £500/day - London OMS - EMS - RTS - Fidessa - SR Labs - QUOD
Main Purpose of the Role
- To provide functional and technical assistance for suite of applications spanning FIX, DMA and Algorithmic trading.
- Main focus will be on FIX and the bank's internal Order Management System.
- Role will involve daily liaison with application user community from front to Back Office and involve timely resolution of system problems in line with user requirements.
- Ensuring the well being of the systems as a whole
- Communicating with business end users as well as IT Development/infrastructure teams.

- Ensuring excellent user experience/satisfaction
- Championing good quality, reliable process surrounding managed applications, co-ordinated with all relevant stakeholders.
- Upholding application stability by suggesting and implementing monitoring processes and procedures to aid early identification and resolution of problems (ITRS/Tivoli)
- Cover allocation of weekend work and offer support out of hours (on-call)
- Support, upgrade and administration of the current trading applications. Vendor and bespoke.
- Support and administration of Reference Data for Trading applications
- Liaise with other IT teams & Business Users (London, Frankfurt etc) and with External Vendors & Brokers
- Incident, request, problem and change logging, reporting and management
- Status and issue reporting to Group Lead and/or Release Cluster/Project Manager
- Project management for small to medium projects
Essential Skills
- 10+ year(s) of supporting Equities Cash/Derivatives and Fixed Income business units
- Front Office trading applications
- Knowledge of business process flows, particularly in Cash Equities and Equities Derivatives electronic trading
- Experience supporting a FIX environment using various versions of the FIX protocol
- Experience of TIBCO Rendezvous or similar messaging technologies.
- Experience with co-located sites and Service Provider connectivity (eg BT Radianz, TNS).
- Networking Engineering (Network Devices, TCP/IP, Routing, Firewalls and routing protocols eg BGP)
- Various Equity Cash and Derivative Electronic Exchanges, ECNs and MTFs (eg Deutsche Bourse, LSE Millennium, Euronext, BATS/CHI-X, etc)
- Database technologies (Sybase, MS-SQL)
- Scripting skills (Perl & Shell)
- Operating systems - UNIX, Windows
- Experience in a client facing role
- Personal time management
Desired Skills
- Business knowledge of the FX, Equity & Equity Derivatives areas including Middle and Back Office processes.
- Understanding of Exchange specifications eg EuroNext CCG/SFTI and LSE millennium systems.
