Description

We are a professional web marketing firm looking to add a great WordPress Front-end developer to our talent roster. (Please no development firms, or sales reps)

Professional Sites is seeking an exceptional WordPress Ninja - - - a Front-end WordPress Website Designer/Developer to join our expanding telecommuting design team.

Are you a creative thinker? Do you collaborate well with others? Do you spend hours on end looking through websites studying the latest design trends? Does the constantly-evolving nature of web design excite you more than it scares you?

ABOUT YOU:

WordPress Website Designer/Coder Ninja. You want to telecommute.

Our current Designer/Coders often have another life avocation and balance website design/creation with that avocation. Examples: Mom, house husband, weekend pastor, 3-day a week firefighter, etc. That’s the beauty of telecommuting. You can live where you want while investing your energies into projects that fund your chosen lifestyle.

ABOUT US:

Professional Sites is dedicated to helping professionals (Therapists, Attorneys, CPA’s) publish the world’s best designed websites that have a conservative look and feel that professionals long for. Professionals tend to lean toward more traditional, conservative, website designs but appreciate those designs being cutting edge: responsive, fast, nimble, SEO-tuned websites that will compete in the client’s competitive, LOCAL geographical web space to compete against competitors and solicit new clients to their practices.

REQUIREMENTS:

All we ask is that you are able to deliver fast, unique, custom WordPress designs (or as you build a catalog of designs for our clients, tweak already crafted prior designs to fit a new client).

Our website designs are 80% conservative-looking websites. Our clients are professionals (Therapists, Attorneys, CPA’s) who prefer flat-appearing, conservative-looking, visually simple designs. That said, our sites might use visually bold colors & fonts, have well-placed CTA’s and will be technically state-of-the-art ‘responsive’ designs that are tested to AVERAGE at least 75/100 on Google’s Page Insights (minimum 75 points). We take the average of the 3 tests: mobile load speed, mobile design, and desktop design. It is not a high bar if you are a WordPress Ninja. The speed test component, for example, should not be an issue as our dedicated servers are incredibly fast, hosting few websites per server, and we deploy speedy SSD drives.

You will collaborate with the company marketing manager to develop quickly-created, custom-themed WordPress website designs that make our professional clients look good on the web. Your website designs will not be bogged down with inefficient code, but will prove to be fast-loading, nimble, responsive designs that adapt to mobile devices or desktops. You will be creating 1 to 2 website redesigns and new website designs per week all while choosing your own hours and workload. The role requires strong HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP fundamentals and hands-on experience with Adobe Creative Suite (e.g. PhotoShop, Illustrator, InDesign, DreamWeaver)

At Professional Sites we place a high value on design. We desire all our Front-End WordPress Designer/Developers to be equally as passionate about creating beautiful and usable web experiences as they are about crafting elegant code.

We always create our own “themes.” NO off-the-shelf-themes that are “pre-styled”. We do welcome blank-canvas (naked) themes or “theme frameworks’ that speed the development of custom themes (‘child themes’) or client-specific themes. Some blank canvas themes you might be familiar with include Thesis, Genesis, Canvas (Woo), Gantry, etc.

If you are a WordPress Ninja, expert with website design, CSS, and the use of Illustrator, Photoshop, In Design, etc., then you will agree that beating an off-the-shelf theme into submission usually requires more work, frustration and hours than simply creating a unique, custom theme that is unique to each client.

ARE YOU A FIT ?

Our Measuring stick is straight forward. Our current Designer/Coders average 10-15 hours per unique website design — less hours if a recent design can be recycled to fit the needs of a particular new client.

Those hours typically include some Illustrator/Photoshop hours for making a web-friendly LOGO from client’s current business card LOGO, resizing and lossless distilling of key images, resizing and color-unifying filters added to industry “badges” that will show off the client’s education, memberships, and associations that are typically peppered into the footer area, and the set-up of each new WordPress Installation on a dedicated server (often in a WordPress Multisite environment).

THE FOLLOWING IS A MUST:

- Experience developing for Wordpress

- Expert at developing custom-theme WordPress websites

- Hands-on ease with Adobe Creative Suite (e.g. PhotoShop, Illustrator, InDesign, DreamWeaver)

- Up to date knowledge of modern web trends

- Appreciation for great design

- Ability to make good, effective design decisions
