Description

Summary:
  • Responsible for equipment improvements as a function of on-going continuous improvement, as well as special assignments, as it relates to processing and packaging equipment.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Designing and implementing cost effective machinery modifications to enhance reliability, capacity and safety.
  • Design, implement efficient production flow through vertically integrating production equipment and processes.
  • Work closely with the Operations, Finance, R&D, and Engineering teams on key process and manufacturing technologies. This may include development, optimization and transfer of various manufacturing processes.
  • Prepares cost estimates on proposed projects and assists the Engineering Manager in the preparation of expenditure requests, as needed.
  • Has a thorough knowledge of safety, Q.C. and GMP requirements, practices and procedures and applies this knowledge when proposing or designing equipment modifications.
  • Consults frequently with department managers and department supervisors concerning work being performed in their departments.
  • Maintain understanding of processes and functional interdependencies.
  • Recognize and escalate, as needed, those issues identified as potential risks to, or opportunities to improve plant performance.
SKILLS:

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required (large scale engineering discipline)
  • 3+ years of Manufacturing, Engineering experience focusing on continuous improvement and project management
  • Computer proficiency (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project)
  • Excellent Communication Skills (Verbal and Written)
  • Excellent Time Management Skills
  • Proven Facilitation Skills
  • Possess a basic Financial Understanding to ensure results are delivered on time and in full
  • 3+ years of experience with process engineering for continuous manufacturing
  • Gum manufacturing
  • Familiar with blending and mixing operations - Mixing dough or sweeteners, then rolled and extruded into flat sheets or palletized
  • Packaging process on the Back End
  • Hands-on shop floor experience
  • Experience in a regulated environment
  • Lean/Six Sigma experience
  • TPM experience a plus
  • Ability to think outside of the box/be resourceful
  • Combo of project management and process engineering
  • 3+ years of exp w/process engineering for continuous mfg
  • Not as heavy PM-sided
  • Bachelor's degree required (large scale engineering discipline)
  • Gum manufacturing
  • Familiar w/blending and mixing operations
  • Mixing dough or sweeteners
  • Then rolled and extruded into flat sheets or palletized
  • Packaging process on the backen
  • Experience in a regulated environment
  • Lean/Six Sigma experience
  • Have struggled to convert automotive backgrounds into food mfg
Candidate preferred qualifications:
  • TPM or Lean Experience
  • BS Mechanical Engineering
  • AutoCAD Proficiency
  • New Product Development and Stage Gate Decision Experience
