Oracle DBA - DUBLIN - 1 YEAR ROLLING (MAX 3 YR) - £350-£450pd
Our client has a fantastic opportunity for a highly skilled and experienced Oracle DBA for a 1-year initial contract with the option to extend for a further 2 years.
The DBA team is extremely busy. There are on average 40 application deployments per month, and the team handles around 8,000 end-user requests per year, as well as the normal monitoring, troubleshooting and upgrade tasks.
The types of tasks include:
- Installing (and upgrading, where necessary) the RDBMS software
- Creating and maintaining the physical schemas
- Generating the requisite databases and data objects (tables, stored procedures, indexes etc.)
- Administering users and roles
- Ensuring data integrity is maintained
- Tuning and optimising the database
- Fault reporting
- Ongoing monitoring
- Start-ups and shutdowns
- Backups and restores
- Recovery procedures
- Providing database advice to developers
- Dealing with queries from users, etc.
- Ensuring RDBMS links properly to n-tier architecture
- Preparing standards and procedures documentation for the proper planning, installation, security, support and maintenance of the Oracle database(s)
- Participation in projects as a team member
- Exchange of information and "skills transfer" between all members of the database administration team
- Any other tasks which are considered by the Department to be appropriate to the role.
The successful candidate must have worked a minimum of 3 (three) years in each of the mandatory skillsets, and must have achieved a competency level of "very good" or "expert" in all the competencies listed below:
- Management of an Oracle (10g, 11g, or 12C) RAC environment
- Management of GIS data and context searching in Oracle 10G, 11G or 12C
- Management of a large Oracle RDBMS database, ie in excess of four Terabytes
- Management of an Oracle 10G/11G/12c RDBMS in a Unix/Linux n-tier environment
- management of an Oracle RDBMS in an environment where business applications are written in Java and deployed to Oracle iAS and Oracle WebLogic
- management of an Oracle database environment shared between multiple (30+) bespoke applications
Required Certification (essential)
- Current valid certification as an Oracle Certified Professional (11G or 12C)
Required competency (essential)
- Management of an Oracle (10g, 11g, or 12C) RAC environment
- Management of GIS data and context searching in Oracle 10G, 11G or 12C
- Management of a large Oracle RDBMS database, ie in excess of four Terabytes
- Management of an Oracle 10G/11G/12c RDBMS in a Unix/Linux n-tier environment
- Management of an Oracle RDBMS in an environment where business applications are written in Java and deployed to Oracle iAS and Oracle WebLogic
- Management of an Oracle database environment shared between multiple (30+) bespoke applications
- Expertise in migration between major Oracle versions (ie 9i to 10G or 10G to 12c)
- Expertise in schema access control based on synonyms
- Expertise in an Oracle RDBMS in an audited and change controlled computing environment
- Expertise in Oracle database implementations on the Linux operating systems, including creation and maintenance of Shell Scripts, CRON, etc
- Expertise in Oracle RDBMS Oracle iAS or WebLogic communications in a RAC clustered environment
- Expertise in carrying out root cause analysis for SQL Performance tuning
- Expertise in working to ISO 27001 operations standards
- Expertise in Oracle instances used by laboratory integrated management systems or other applications where instrumentation is used for data collection
- Expertise in maintaining an Oracle RDBMS to provide 24 X 7 X 365 uptime
- Expertise in configuring and manage RMAN backup and recovery operations
- Expertise in managing multiple Oracle DataGuard instances
- Expertise in working in all aspects of a project life cycle from business analysis to implementation and testing
- Expertise in mentoring and skills transfer
- Expertise in working to tight deadlines
