Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled Charles River Application Support Analyst to join a global financial services organisation as part of the team responsible for providing support and ensuring operational stability for trading applications.

Rule Duties

  • Break-fix triage and resolution of issues impacting Charles River IMS and multiple execution platforms;
  • Support and maintain FIX connections;
  • Deliver tactical Charles River configuration changes;
  • Query the Charles River database for support and ad-hoc reporting/analysis purposes;
  • Support timely and successful completion of the overnight batch cycle to ensure readiness for start of trading;
  • Participate in idea generation and implementation of continuous improvements to support processes;
  • Monitor and ensure adherence to SLAs as agreed with business groups;
  • Prepare formal documentation, training materials, and support knowledge articles such as procedures and FAQs;
  • Conduct formal and informal training sessions for colleagues to provide consistent levels of support globally;
  • Automate routine administrative and support tasks such as data batch loads and end/start of day cycles;
  • Coordinate resolution and communication for major incidents;
  • Coordinate production and non-production application releases including documentation of formal release plans;
  • Estimate, plan, and complete tactical deliverables on-time and on-budget;
  • Participate in on-call rotation for out of hours support;
  • Engage in support activities on a rota basis, including co-location with Equity or Fixed Income Traders and participating in planned night and weekend release and maintenance activities.
  • Follow ITIL approach to incident and problem management.

Essential skills

  • Proven experience and domain knowledge in Fixed Income and/or Equity trading technology (buy side preferred);
  • Proven ability to coordinate multiple technology teams to manage a crisis to resolution;
  • Proven experience in clearly communicating to application users and senior management;
  • Demonstrable experience with post-trade affirmation and confirmation systems (eg VCON and CTM);
  • Demonstrable experience managing FIX connectivity;
  • Experience leading a team responsible for configuring and supporting the Charles River IMS;
  • Proven experience with environment management, code deployment, configuration control processes;
  • Extensive production support experience and knowledge of what is required to ensure production stability
  • Ability to rapidly learn new applications and technologies;
  • Experience in documenting procedures and conducting training sessions;
  • Proven experience with identifying and mitigating risk from change;
  • Ability to analyse complex problems in a structured manner whilst working under pressure;
  • Experience working in a global environment;
  • Demonstrable ability to liaise with other technology teams for efficient incident resolution;
  • Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Degree level qualification or equivalent.
  • Experience in development/change projects including a disciplined approach to implementation;
  • Ability to operate under pressure and deliver to demanding deadlines;

Desirable skills

  • Strong knowledge of SQL and relational database concepts (Oracle experience preferred);
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Linux system usage and a familiarity of administration matters;
  • Experience in disciplined, production quality Perl and/or Python Scripting;
  • Experience with report definition with Crystal Reports;
  • Familiar with concepts of Oracle database administration;
  • Familiar with FX trading domain;
  • Working knowledge of networks/Firewalls/Internet connectivity;
  • Management of the Autosys scheduling system including defining Autosys jobs;
  • Knowledge of the Windows permissioning, administration, and/or Scripting;
  • Familiar with data analysis in Excel (VBA Scripting and/or statistical analysis experience a plus);
  • Familiar with middle tier technologies (ie WebSphere, MQ, Tomcat);
  • Familiar with agile development life cycle;
