An Electronic Design engineer is required to join a leading technology company based in Leicester, who specialise in the Automotive sector. The company are looking to bring their development in-house, and this would be to replace a team member to help lead the software and electronics design.
Role: Electronic Design Engineer
Salary: upto £50,000 DOE
Location: Leicester
With over 40 granted patents in the field of fabric sensor controls, my client is an early leader in embedding washable electronics into range of intelligent clothing for both consumer and industrial safety.
Our model is to BUILD our patented technologies within my clients brand, and then gain SCALE through LICENSING them to other garment manufacturers wishing to enter this exploding market to sell into their own verticals eg. oil & gas, transport, construction.

We are developing an embedded IoT platform. Within the company we have a blend of mass market garment manufacture, hardware, software, data and IP competencies.
Responsibilities
As an Electronics Engineer, you will work on projects through all their stages; from the initial brief for a concept, through the design and development stage, to the testing of one or more prototypes, and through to the final manufacture and implementation of a new product or system.

Exact duties will vary, but will include:
  • working with colleagues to design new systems, circuits and devices or develop existing technology;
  • testing theoretical designs;
  • writing specifications and technical reports;
  • following defined development processes;
  • systematically improving the detailed design of a piece of electronic equipment;
  • ensuring that a product will work with devices developed by others, can be made again reliably, and will perform consistently in specified operating environments;
  • creating user-friendly interfaces;
  • project planning and preparing budgets;
  • attending meetings with subcontractors;
  • supervising technicians, craftspeople and other colleagues;
  • keeping up to date with developments in technologies and regulations.
  • Carrying out feasibility studies for new technical innovations
  • Drawing up plans using computer-assisted engineering and design software
  • Estimating material, construction, and labour costs, and project timescales
  • Testing installations and systems, and analysing data
  • Making sure projects meet electrical and construction safety regulations
  • Overseeing inspection and maintenance programmes


Qualifications
You will have a degree in electrical or electronic engineering or at a minimum, 5years+ of training at a technical college.
Skills

You will need to have:
  • Excellent maths, science, technology and IT skills
  • A high level of technical knowledge with specific experience
