DevOps Team Lead SC Cleared

One of our key clients, a market leading IT service provider based near Reading, has a requirement for DevOps Team Lead.
This exciting opportunity to lead the DevOps team has come about due to an internal project secondment and is for an initial 6-month contract.
The role of DevOps Team Lead will cover a wide range of activities such as Monitoring of key systems and management of operational support systems, providing 3rd Line support and managing the ticket system.
The ideal candidate for the role of DevOps Team Lead will be customer focussed and have the talent to shape the future of the team's activities and development. This role would be well suited to a Monitoring, Automation or DevOps Team Lead that has the drive and ambition to grow the future of a successful Cloud Business. Due to the current rate of expansion, for the right candidate there is a real possibility to transition into a permanent position.

Key Deliverables
Ensuring that all tickets and customer queries are filled in line with best practice as well investigating and implementing enhancements and bug fixing.
Accurate monitoring of activity through the availability project.
Lay put and in place a clear strategy for the existing tools of the business, namely LANDesk, JIRA and ScienceLogic.
Recruit and develop the best people to grow the team. Identify areas in which to improve the speed and efficiency with which issues can be resolved.

Key Responsibilities

Escalation point to Operations for 3rd and fourth line.
Solution delivery on client deployment projects.
The development of the monitoring platform in line with the strategy of the business.
The implementation of infrastructure monitoring tools.
Strong leadership and development of the support team.
Consult and provide evaluation of management platforms and products.
Provide continuous support for ITSM, collaboration tooling and internally developed tools.
Documentation for design, configuration and provide ongoing support.
Provide expert level support on all aspects of subject matter to the internal teams.

Skills and Experience

A deep understanding of data centre technologies: Servers, Storage and Networks from DevOps Team Lead or operational support background.
Experience and understanding of writing custom reports.
Background of working in a large scale cloud or virtualised computing environment.
Experience of operational support of VMware, vSphere and Linux Operating Systems.
Working experience of at least one of the major Scripting languages such as PowerShell, Perl Python, Ruby.
Experience with MySQL, PostgreSQL, Java or Node would be highly desirable.
Working knowledge of all ITIL environment helpdesk tools.
Previous implementation of Kanban or similar is highly desirable.
Organised, disciplined, proactive and self-motivated.
Experience of team management, mentoring and coaching.
