For our client in Amsterdam we are looking for an Ops Engineer (Java, Cassandra, NoSQL)
The departments' main duties include:
- Take ownership of distributed data solutions which are used by the squads and provide consultancy on these solutions
- Investigate, understand and choose the right tool(s) for the job to be done and ensure that the squads are capable to use them
- Industrialize a data solution, so that it can be used seamlessly by the squads
- Continuously monitor and improve efficiency, quality and time-to-market through in-depth automation of building, testing and deployment
- Phasing-out data solutions that have reached the end of their life cycle
Skills required
- Professional and intellectual ability at bachelor level
- Experience with Version Management, GIT, Continuous Integration
- Experience with Java and Web API's
- Solid understanding of operating, maintaining and developing against NoSQL/Low
- Latency Data Store (LLDS) Solutions e.g. Cassandra
- Knowledge of Apache Spark / Apache Solr / Scala is beneficial
- Strong conceptual understanding of the big picture is preferred
- Able to use a wide variety of open source technologies and tools
- Experienced with Agile development & Scrum
- Comfortable with collaboration and open communication
- Focused on delivering quality above quantity
- Platform engineering / Total stack experience is hugely beneficial (e.g. Linux, Puppet, Python, scripting, …)
- Knowledge of other databases is preferred
- Ability to adopt and test new features
- Knowledge sharing will be expected
- Excellent team player
- Passion for backend technology
