Description

We’re looking for an experienced Senior UI Designer to join our vibrant creative team!

You’ll be leading and assisting visual interface design on interesting and innovative projects, from the initial concepts through to the final product.

You’ll work closely with UX and developers in Brighton, UK (we’d consider remote working for the right candidate) to create magical customer experiences on a variety of platforms: digital, physical and the places in-between.

You’ll be designing towards simplicity, paying attention to the little details and applying cognitive psychology to your process.
You!

We’re looking for someone capable and confident with a solid background in UI design. You’ll need to be able to explain and back up your decisions to colleagues and clients with your experience and well-founded research.

You’ll have a fervent belief in simplicity, and the influence of cognitive biases. You’re meticulous and pay attention to even the most tiny, beautiful and human details.

You’re able to embrace the constraints of technology and use limitations to your advantage. You’ll understand current UI patterns of the most popular OSes, but you’ll also have future vision; the ability to see beyond today’s platforms such as iOS and Android, and the ability to adapt to the ever-changing digital/physical space.

You’re familiar with using Sketch, as that’s the tool we predominantly use for UI design but, more importantly, have the flexibility to quickly learn and adapt to new tools. Experience with motion design and prototyping tools is also an advantage.

You’re able to work in an agile fashion. You like a challenge. We’re often charting through new and exciting territory, the thinking we’re doing has sometimes never been done before.

You’re a nice person. You listen. You share ideas. You’re selfless and not just keen to help others, but empower them.

We’re a small team so you’ll often get your hands dirty in all areas (often literally in our weekly Tidy Time). Your everyday tasks might include:

  • Outlining vision statements
  • Defining key emotional drivers
  • Customer journey mapping
  • Paper prototyping
  • Concept sketching, idea generation and presenting to the team and clients
  • Storyboarding and storytelling
  • Creating wireframes, stunning visual designs, beautiful icons and elegant layouts for devices, big and small
  • Creating production assets
  • Researching and experimenting with technologies that improve the user experience
  • Creating forward-thinking concepts for future interfaces and OSes
  • Estimating time required for tasks
  • Giving and receiving feedback with other designers
  • Iterating designs and layouts following discussions with clients and developers
  • Pushing the boundaries of usable interfaces across a range of device types and form factors
  • Giving talks (internally and externally) on interface design, concepts and visual techniques

Your benefits will include:

  • An opportunity to work on globally-influential and industry-defining projects
  • Friendly, highly talented and award-winning folk to collaborate with
  • A meaty salary (negotiable)
  • A tasty new MacBook and any tools you need
  • Flexible, family-friendly working hours
  • Your personal ribot hex code (the most important thing!)

Are you interested, and think you’re right for the role? Introduce yourself! Send us a strong and varied showcase of your work. Include examples of how you have applied simplicity, attention to detail and cognitive psychology where you can.
