Senior DevOps Engineer

The Role

This role sits within the Solution Architecture and Engineering department who are responsible for solution architecture, application design and DevOps services.

You will be part of the new DevOps Engineering function and get involved with all stages of the DevOps Engineering Life Cycle (concept, define, design, build, test, release, maintain and retire) with the opportunity to drill down into specific technical areas and move to other functional areas.

Responsibilities

As a Senior DevOps Engineer you will be responsible for the delivery and support of key capabilities and tools. You will ensure the company obtains the most benefit from its investments in the DevOps products and delivery, as well as support the EA roadmap development and management. You will be responsible for the DevOps Engineering lifecycle from requirements, solution design, product selection to implementation, and for ensuring the features and functionalities of the product meet the requirements, design specifications and engineering practices.

Being a real advocate of the DevOps Engineering function and solutions is a key part of the role. You will be responsible for solution design, development, testing and release management, as well as assisting other teams in the design and implementation when required. You will be responsible for providing estimates within a project management framework and proactively define new or update the solution and detailed design to increase value.

Skills & Experience

You will have experience with many of the following systems and tools installation, configuration and customisation:
  • DevOps Tooling: Jira/ Confluence, Git/ Gerrit, GitHub, Nexus, Ansible, Puppet, Chef, AppDynamics, New Relic, ServiceNow, Splunk, OEM, BMC, Nagios, RPM, Samba, Yaml, VirtualBox, VMware vRealize, OpenStack, Docker, Rancher, Sysdig, etc.
  • Operating System: RedHat Enterprise Linux 6/7 (RHEL), CentOS Linux, Cisco IOS, Solaris 10, Windows Server , Android and iOS
  • Database: Oracle Database 11/12, MongoDB and MS SQL Server 12/14
  • Middleware: Oracle WebLogic 10/11/12, Oracle Documaker and IBM WebSphere Messaging
  • Hardware: HP servers, Cisco routers/ switches, Intel/ AMD processors, etc.
  • Protocols: DHCP, DNS, FTP, HTTP/HTTPS, ICMP, IMAP, IPSec, OpenVPN, POP3, RADIUS, RDP, SCP, SFTP, SMTP, SNMP, RESTful, SOAP, SSH, SSL, TCP/IP, Telnet, UDP, WPA2 EAP, etc.
  • Languages: Bash, JavaScript, PHP, PowerShell, Python, SQL, etc.


Strong stakeholder management skills and a pro-active personality are key to the success in this role, as well as solid analytical and problem solving skills. A good understanding of payment applications and services is ideal, as well as knowledge of the Agile, PMP or Prince2 project management methodology.
