Quantity Surveyor - London - rail

PTS are urgently looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to work for a large rail way company in London.

The candidate must have experience within the construction rail way industry as well as the following skills:

Good interpersonal and communication skills

. Analytically strong and able to structure ideas and expectations
. Able to deliver in a high pressure environment
. Sensitive to interdependencies
. Flexible and able to work to tight deadlines
. Commercial and financial understanding and knowledge
. Strong negotiation skills
. Experience of project management within a regulated industry
. Significant experience in a senior management role in a delivery environment

Knowledge:

. Knowledge and understanding of contract management.
. Knowledge of safety regulations (particularly CDM)
. Understanding of rail industry issues in relation to construction
. Strong understanding of construction industry forms of contract

Key Accountabilities

. Evaluate and measure the works within the contracted scope; undertake periodic valuations of works in progress as required. Prepare certificates for payment as required.
. Negotiate and agree payments
. Establish whether instructions are variations to contract and negotiate value
. Assist in preparation of estimates for works. Input cost/quantity information into estimating systems and produce reports.
. Manage contractor's day-to-day commercial issues
. Prepare Assist in the preparation of project budget and detailed estimates., and Cost Plans as necessary during development to meet financial targets.
. Prepare Assist in the preparation of final accounts, including validation of contractor submissions by measurement and quantification.
. Assist in preparation of tender, pricing and contract documentation. Carry out cost analysis of tenders.
. Input data related to contracts into the company's project management reporting system
. Provide support to the Asset Team Safety HSQE Manager either through the direct reporting of recognised safety non-conformances or practical support Dependent on the person's level of safety training & experience
