We are a very small company, looking for help with a WordPress web site. The site has been up for a number of years, and has been maintained by members of our IT department. Our company has recently downsized its IT department, and we wish to find an independent contractor who will work with us to maintain and develop the site. This would include general ongoing maintenance, trouble shooting, and developing new functionality. The site is currently completely operational, although there are some unresolved issues with some of the back-end functionality.The site is called English Listening (www.englishlistening.com) and is intended to teach English as a Second Language to non-native speakers of English. The site focuses on teaching listening skills. Basically, learners sign up for a small amount, currently $3 a month, and then have access to over 500 audio recordings on a variety of topics. There are some study aids, and a test accompanying every passage. There are a few free passages, so potential subscribers can see what they are getting. There are a variety of support and help pages, search functions, payment, sign-up and login functions, and a members’ page for them to keep track of their studying. The site also allows schools to sign up a whole group/class of students, with admin features for the teacher. There is a back-end admin panel for the site owners.
Extensive knowledge of WordPress is a must, as well as good general web design skills, including PHP and scripting. A knowledge of web-based audio is a must. We are interested in working with qualified, experienced professionals with a proven track record of project work. We expect all coding to be done to the highest professional standards, and all code to be fully commented for the benefit of any future developers.
