Description
The Senior Database Developer is responsible for providing technical leadership for the global systems database environment including overseeing and performing the design, development, and implementation of complex database solutions & services. The Senior Database Developer also assumes responsibility for optimizing database code, performing code reviews, creating and enforcing company coding standards.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
* Work with business analysts and business representatives to define & clarify requirements, perform detailed analysis, develop detailed designs, and implement robust, maintainable solutions that meet the business requirements
* Create and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical database models
* Review the designs, code, and test plans of other developers and provide recommendations for improvement or optimizations.
* Looks at t-sql code, understands business needs and can transform that into efficient PL/SQL code. Minimizes use of temporary tables.
* Research, test and employ database and query tuning techniques to maximize database performance.
* Provide technical support and lead the effective problem resolution for customer inquiries and to resolve production issues.
* Participate in the feasibility analysis for new systems/applications & major enhancements.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Creates strong relationships with extended development teams, DBAs & Quality Assurance
* Serve as mentor to Development Team
* May perform other duties as required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILIITIES REQUIRED
* Expert skills with SQL, PL/SQL, query & package performance tuning
* Extensive experience with enterprise database development using Oracle and/or MS SQL Server
* Extensive knowledge and experience with SQL Loader, Transactional application database design
* Extremely detail oriented with advanced analytical skills
* Advanced understanding of database constraint concepts such as indexes, primary keys, and reading query execution plans
* Ability to independently identify, define, direct, and perform analyses to resolve complex first-time project issues including the analysis of technical and economic feasibility of proposed systems solutions.
* Ability and comfort working in a fast-paced environment
REQUIREMENTS
* Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/related field or equivalent work experience, preferred
* 5+ years of experience in developing Oracle database solutions (11g and newer)
* 5+ years of experience in software development writing complex SQL & PL/SQL
