Market Risk SME, FRTB, Canary Wharf 6 months

Tier One Investment Bank is looking to appoint an individual with vast Market Risk exposure to join their FRTB project initially on a 6 month contract.

Duties and Responsibilities

The CRO Regulatory Risk Management team have an opportunity for an experienced regulatory and market risk management professional to manage the coordination and advisory on the regulatory aspects around the implementation of the Basel rules on the Fundamental Review of the Trading Book (FRTB). Ideally, the candidate will have strong working knowledge of Market Risk Management, Regulatory Capital Models and stress testing practices within a large financial institution.

The main responsibilities are:

  • Provision of expert advice on all rules and guidance related to the implementation of FRTB and Model approval.
  • Participate in and manage the regular dialogue on FRTB related issues and serve as a key point of contact for the FRTB programme.
  • Coordination of all ad-hoc information requests from the FRTB programme relating to regulatory issues.
  • Keep up to date with regulatory developments relating to FRTB and participate in industry wide discussions.
  • Perform analysis of any new developments to FRTB rules; including an assessment of impact on CRO's risk processes.
  • Coordinate the FRTB regulatory submission, including the self-assessment against FRTB rules. Perform review of final responses for accuracy and messaging prior to regulatory submission.
  • Coordinate regulatory dialogue on FRTB, including setting agendas briefing key stakeholders before the meetings on key themes and questions, putting together presentations for meetings, answering post-visit regulatory letters and tracking remediation items.
  • Prepare and participate in regular briefing on all FRTB related regulatory interactions and commitments with CRO management.

The successful candidate will be expected to interface with FRTB programme senior management and managers to ensure successful regulatory interactions.

The Ideal Canidate will have:
  • Financial sector experience, preferably in CRO function in an investment bank, a consultancy firm or as a regulator.
  • Deep knowledge of market risk management concepts such as VaR, IRC, Stressed VaR, stress testing, and risk factor identification.
  • Good product knowledge in all asset classes (IR, FX, Credit, Equities) and covering wide range of derivative products.
  • Deep knowledge of FRTB rules, stress testing, and capital adequacy.
  • Desire to get into detail of the rules, including taking both a legalistic approach and also understanding the "spirit" behind the regulation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including an ability to provide clear and comprehensive responses, and "make complexity simple"
  • High attention to detail and ability to challenge quality/consistency of documents.
  • Strong project management skills, proven organization, coordination and action tracking skills.
  • Good network in industry associations and to supervisors is preferable.

Ideally post graduate qualification in Finance such as eg, ACA, MSc, CFA, GARP PRM, PRMIA FRM
