I am looking to hire a for Software Developer (Moodle) one of my Public Sector Client.

Please read the below job Specification.

Working Arrangement:

The successful candidate will report to the appropriate Product Specialist within the team to which they are assigned.

Interviews:

Interviews shall take place week commencing from 4th April at Cardiff, with a start date as soon as practicable after the interview.

Overview

The client is looking for an experienced Senior Software Developer to work on upgrading our Moodle eLearning environment:

  • Take stock and establish current baseline. Remove unneeded copies of Moodle from previous aborted upgrades and ensure the development version matches live. Ensure sufficient space is available for upgrade activities.
  • Upgrade Development version from 2.5 to 3.x.
  • Reapply customizations and ESR report to development.
  • Create duplicate of live environment and upgrade it from 2.5 to 3.x
  • Upgrade live 2.5 installation to 3.x.
  • Undertake any remediation action from UAT or Penetration testing
  • Upgrade the Back End database from MySQL to MS SQL Server 2008 R2

They must have the ability to work independently, having strong organisational and project management skills, and be able to manage the delivery of the new version by July 2016. A sound technical grounding in Moodle, PHP, MySQL/MS SQL Server and Apache is essential.

The contractor will work directly to the Product Specialists within the respective service areas, and with colleagues within their teams. However, the ability to work independently, take the initiative, and adapt to changing circumstances as the project evolves is essential.

Skills and Experience:

CV's submitted must evidence that candidates have the following skills and experience:

  • Proven experience of working with Moodle.
  • Proven evidence that you have upgraded Moodle in a Windows environment with PHP, MySQL and Apache.
  • Ability to configure and tune the environment.
  • Experience of configuring more than one instance of Moodle to run in the same environment.
  • Ability to customize the source code for local requirements.
  • Installation of Moodle with MS SQL Server 2008 R2.
  • Follow ITIL change control
  • Proven experience in the delivery of complex information systems.
