Description

Our client in the Fort Washington, PA area is looking for a Cloud Engineer for a 12months + contract.

Position Description:

The Cloud Engineer will help build the DevOps platform to run across a hybrid architecture leveraging Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud as well as on premise data centers, incorporating DevOps best-practices with automation and continuous integration. This role reports to the Cloud Services Manager and works closely with peers, developers, and third-parties.

The role has broad influence from enabling developer teams with continuous integration tools to designing, provisioning and optimizing the infrastructure stacks, to recommending and helping design and troubleshoot new application approaches

Requirements:
- Must have experience with a broad portfolio of Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure resources (EBS, S3, EC2, Elastic IP, Route 53, VPC, Security Groups and Network ACLs)

- Proficiency administering AWS resources using AWS Console and CLI

- Extensive experience developing, deploying, and administering applications and infrastructure

- Familiar with programming languages including: Java, C# and JavaScript

- Strong understanding of web applications, web technologies, cloud services

- Working knowledge of networking concepts: DNS, TCP/IP, Firewalls

- General understanding of security concepts including: Authorization, authentication, Encryption techniques

- System administration experience with Linux and Windows

- Working knowledge of activity automation using Powershell, Python, Ruby and/or Shell

- Understanding and Experience with Configuration Management tools like Puppet, Chef or Ansible

- Understanding and Experience with Deployment and SDLC methodologies.

- Understanding and Experience with Continuous Integration tools like Jenkins or Hudson

- Understanding and Experience with Build tools such as MSBuild, Ant, Maven or Gradle

- Knowledge of Agile/SCRUM ceremonies and methods

- Ability to isolate, troubleshoot and solve problems

- Strong desire to learn and experiment with new things

- Strong desire to automate everything

- Ability to document, mentor and present ideas and subjects to peers

Responsibilities/Common Activities:

- Configure and deploy Windows and Linux application stacks using AWS Cloudformation, AWS console, SDK/CLI

- Understand, implement and automate security controls, governance processes and compliance validation

- Define and deploy monitoring, metrics, and logging

- Provide feedback and recommendations concerning platform optimization, acceptable development methods, deployment/build methods, product and tool improvements

- Implement and administer continuous integration tools and methodologies

- Troubleshoot and resolve issues and incidents

- Restore databases and Servers from snapshot/Glacier

- Provide metrics for usage/availability/service targets

- Recommend Software/Configure POCs

- Maintain AMIs (Amazon Machine Image) with required patches and upgrades

- Provide runtime support when needed

- Provide technical guidance, knowledge sharing and mentoring

- Continuously maintain knowledge base with guidelines and best practices
