Enterprise Oracle DBA contract

A leading Irish public sector entity are looking to add an Oracle DBA to their database team for a 3 month contract. This public body have secured government funding to improve their systems by increasing their average application developments per month. This is a golden opportunity for you to secure a great daily rate contract that is also challenging.

Role: Oracle DBA/Developer Duration: 3 months daily rate contract

Location: North Dublin

Start date: 1 month after interview max or ASAP if possible

X-Factor: Excellent opportunity for a long extension.

Day to DayYou will be an expert to complement the existing resources on site. This includes doing skills transfers to existing team, extensive PL/SQL development, database admin, performance tuning, DB backup and recovery. You will be maintaining and supporting several key internal systems including financial applications and integrations between various applications. Designing and implementing disaster recovery process, changes to the logical and physical models, appropriate changes to packages and procedures, compliance with licence agreement, coaching and mentoring, managing DB security access control. Providing expert technical advice, data loading and remote management of the database services.

The EnvironmentThere is one Windows domain, uses Oracle version 11g 2.04. The applications are a combination of bespoke and third party software, they are internal and internet centric. An understanding of the complexities of a secure clustered environment is essential with knowledge of materialisation.

Skills/Experience:4 years+ experience delivering solutions, working with:
  • Oracle Certified [10g, 11g or 12c], a copy must be submitted with the CV to apply for this job
  • Undergraduate degree in computer science/IT/Maths or relevant field
  • SQL/PL-SQL tuning and database optimisation
  • Data modelling
  • Experience with disaster recovery plans, backups, recovery, Oracle designer,


Desirable Experience:
  • Public sector experience
  • Oracle Apex
