Description
Our client, a well established Global IT Outsourcing Organisation are currently seeking a number of Unix Support Engineers to take on an initial 6 Month Contract at their busy site in Newcastle.
Requirements:

Good knowledge of Oracle Solaris and Linux OS (RHEL + SLES)

More than 3 years of experience in IT support on Unix/Linux systems

Thorough knowledge of system administration and configuration topics related to Solaris and Linux systems

In-depth knowledge of Solaris based virtualization technology (Solaris zones/containers)

Familiar with common Oracle Sun hardware platforms

Familiar with common HP x86 hardware platforms

Experienced in configuring both SAN and direct attached storage (DAS) under Solaris and Linux
-
Thorough knowledge and experience of Scripting languages, in particular Shell Scripting: Bash, Ksh, Perl

Detailed knowledge of Solaris and general Unix software packaging and OS build generation

Fluent in English

Self-motivated, self-started, flexible, pro-active, able to work to tight deadlines

Proven experience of working in a team
Desirable:
- Solaris 10 Certification is a bonus
- Knowledge of Solaris 11, including LDOMS
- Experience of implementing Red Hat ID
- HP Server Automation (HPSA/Opsware)
