Financial Analyst, Investment Banking, Mortgages, UK GAAP, 6 months

My Client a Tier One Investment Bank requires a Financial Analyst to join them initially on a 6 month contract within their mortgages team.

The Mortgages function comprises Securitization Finance, Commercial Real Estate, & Mortgages Trading desks. The finance function also support the EMEA based UK Residential Mortgages business comprises mortgage asset servicing, trading, structuring and funding activities. The Mortgage Finance team has reporting, control and advisory responsibilities to both internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities: (Key parts to the job role)

  • Financial control over the books and records of the business across multiple entities in varying legal forms.
  • Key involvement in the annual audit of multiple entities.
  • Completion of numerous UK GAAP Statutory accounts within tight timeframes.
  • Maintenance of the internal control framework.
  • Development and enhancement of processes and procedures relating to the monthly close cycle and the statutory accounts.
  • Liaison with colleagues in EMEA Mortgage Finance, Trading Desks, Global CFO, Accounting Policy, Operations, Tax, Legal and Compliance on a variety of matters to ensure reporting and control is appropriate and current in a dynamic environment.
  • Advisor to Line of Business Senior Management team - assisting with key accounting, legal entity and regulatory issues
  • Quarterly reporting to FSA, Bank of England and parent company under US and UK GAAP.
  • Development and analysis of key performance metrics
  • Participation in the formulation of business strategy; plans; budgets; and forecasts.
  • Provide regular updates, analytics and commentary on Line of Business performance.
  • Manage the expense approval process for both deal-related and organizational expenses; provide expense analytics and assist the business with recovering deal-related expenses.
  • Provide regular updates, analytics and commentary on the GBAM's externally disclosed quarterly performance

Requirements; (what we are looking for)

  • Qualified CFA or Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with good working knowledge of accounting concepts or a relevant degree with suitable experience to match.
  • Excel: Able to build and use spreadsheets.
  • Experience of working in Markets with banking products.
