Scrum Master

Growing Software Company is seeking a Scrum Master to lead multiple scrum teams simultaneously and teams may be both mature and immature. Immature teams may not have worked collectively on a Scrum team and/or may have team members that have only worked on a single Scrum project or perhaps not at all.

A successful Scrum Master candidate will have experience and full working knowledge of all Scrum Team roles and responsibilities.

The Scrum Master will be required to facilitate the delivery of the products through the scrum process with the following responsibilities:

Maintaining Agile values and practices.

Coach and mentor the team (not a manager) to enable close team cooperation and collaboration to achieve the goals.

Schedules and facilitates Scrum ceremonies.

Removes impediments to ensure team success.

Inspects the project, roles and makes changes to adapt to Scrum framework to increase productivity.

Removes barriers and shields the team from
external interference.

Helps evolve the backlog.

Provides release and sprint reporting.

The Scrum Master will need to feel comfortable driving discussions across multiple business groups, product owners, program manager, relationship managers, scrum coach and IT department. The Scrum Master must be comfortable managing across a diverse and senior level stakeholder group.

Scrum Master will also be required to be fully engaged in the backlog building process along with the requirements analyst (business process mapping, user story writing, grooming and polishing) and may need to build specific parts of the backlog during discovery. Scrum Master should also be able and willing to assist team with requirements analyst and QA tasks during sprints when needed.

Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field is required.
    4-6 years of Project Management Experience is preferred.
    Agile/Scrum experience is required, including 2-3 years of being a Scrum Master
  • Advanced understanding of Scrum roles and Agile development techniques.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, planning and decision-making skills.
  • Able to work with people at all levels.
  • Able to build and maintain relationships and facilitate collaboration and communication.
  • Requires good judgment to quickly identify problems and suggest solutions.
  • Has the ability and desire to partner with and serve the business and IT community.
  • Experience working with teams to build quality software using agile techniques and minimizing technical debt is preferred.
  • Able to influence without authority.
  • Experience using TFS/Jira or similar product backlog management tool.
