Support Manager - Retail Banking - Group Operations - Global Payments - Business Change - Birmingham

A leading Retail Bank is seeking a Support Manager to work on a complex project, which offers the opportunity to work with senior level professionals in a highly respected organisation.

The successful candidate will report into the Global Payments Head of Trade Operations to assist and provide direct support in all matters relating to the management and operation of their business area.

They will be responsible for the following:

  • Acting as a point of contact for Head of Trade Operations's office and support those in focusing time on high value add activities.
  • Liaise with MD office to ensure all requirements are met in an efficient manner.
  • Act as trusted advisor highlighting upcoming hotspots/issues for discussion and resolution.
  • Screen incoming information and communications, responding, re-routing, prioritising as appropriate.
  • Assist the Head of Trade Operations to prepare for meetings, ensuring all relevant packs are prepared, circulated and actions progressed.
  • Sit on relevant committee/project teams on behalf of the Head of Trade Service Operations
  • Aide and support strategic planning for area and team with completion of appropriate storyboards
  • Produce reports on business strategy, plans and monthly performance against objectives.
  • Produce ad-hoc reports, papers, speeches and presentations as and when required, co-ordinating summary reports and papers as required to support efficiency and informed decision making
  • Engage and liaise effectively with key stakeholders to keep abreast of emerging matters and ensure the business area is appropriately represented and responsive to matters arising
  • Liaise with internal communications teams, to plan, co-ordinate and deliver conferences, communications activities, cascades and events, ensuring appropriate messages are aligned to business strategy and communicated to key audiences as necessary
  • Identify and exploit opportunities to share best practice and build expertise across our business
  • Support achievement of the financial targets of the Trade business
  • Support Head of Trade Operations in key risk and compliance aspects
  • Ensure a well established performance management approach is in place
  • Lead and/or direct special projects' on behalf of the Head of Trade Operations, ensuring alignment with Group and business strategy and policy and in conjunction with other central functions and divisions across the Group
  • Support the drive and delivery of the Global Payments people Strategy within the Head of Trade Operations area

To be considered for this role you must be able to demonstrate the following skills within financial services (ideally retail banking):

  • A detailed understanding of Policies, Legal and Regulatory requirements pertaining to the provision of Trade products and the environment in which Trade Services operates is desirable.
  • Good knowledge and experience of Trade products and the Trade Processing Lifecycle, procedures and services, including interpretation of and application of best practices.
  • CITF qualified (Preferable)
  • A good overall knowledge of Banking and its environment is also desirable.

As well as proven experience on a large scale programme within a banking environment.

This is a business change role not a technical/IT position.
