Summary
- We are currently searching for an Electrical Principal CAD Operator.
- Applicants shall be able to work with minimal supervision to provide accurate & timely CAD drafting support for complex electrical designs at industrial facilities.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Review each project with engineering team
- Provide project research, as required
- Provide project labor estimates for electrical drafting services and create CAD drafting project timelines
- Utilize established CAD drafting standards, file management & drafting techniques to prepare electrical CAD drawings
- Create bill of materials for projects
- Prepare final plan sets for delivery of:
- AFB (approved for bidding) drawings
- AFC (approved for construction) drawings
- Final As-Built Records
- Attend project meetings to report on status of CAD drafting involvement
- Provide on-site field measurements/investigation, unsupervised, as required
- Provide quality self-check review of your CAD drafting work
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- High school diploma
- Minimum of 5 years CAD experience utilizing Microstation V8i CAD software & Descartes or IrasB raster editing software (AutoCAD background may also be considered)
- Firm understanding of plan & section views
- Firm understanding of Microsoft Word & Excel software programs
- General understanding of Microsoft Access database programs
- Must possess a valid Michigan driver's license
- Must be able to interpret and/or prepare field sketches & photographs
- Must have excellent command of the use of reference files within CAD software
- Must have excellent command of the use of raster images within CAD software
- Have excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must be able to manage workload for multiple concurrent projects
- Minimum of 5 years of electrical design & layout experience for electrical (AC & DC) power & control wiring (power distribution, schematic & ladder diagrams, etc.)
- Must have basic knowledge of electrical code requirements
- Firm understanding of P&ID's (Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams)
- Complete understanding of isometric & schematic drawings
- Complete understanding of industrial electrical systems, including:
- Hazardous area fittings and installation procedures
- Conduit routing, assembly and installation
- Grounding systems
- Must have a basic understanding of mechanical piping (welded, flanged and threaded process piping assembly and installation, etc.)
- PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) experience is a plus, but not required
