Description

An exciting opportunity for an Interface Designer is available in Brussels, major centre for international politics and home of numerous international organizations, politicians, diplomats and civil servants.
This position is offered for a period of up to 4 years as a contractor.

The successful candidate as a UX & ergonomics expert

  • Can assess what is the best user-centric approach to satisfy a business need
  • Has a good relationship with business clients, and in meetings drafts wireframes on the fly to clarify his/her thoughts
  • Can use this to quickly reach a prospective agreement with business owners, then furthers the design and shares the results to gather feedback and raises awareness and agreement
  • Follows an agile approach to projects, driving the designed solution home by interacting with developers as much as the clients
  • Keeps the management informed by uploading designs, wireframes, and mockups on a common platform
  • Can both work independently as well as be part of a team
  • Participates in user testing projects and gives input to interface improvement experiments
  • Participates in web interfaces testing on various browsers and devices, enhancing and modifying them as necessary to ensure the best user experience
  • Has a good mobile first responsive design approach and can propose good web designs when needed
  • Is able to translate these requirements for developers, and aids the project manager by analysing user needs and clarifying them in developer tickets
  • Doesn't mind taking over the project manager role when needed, and can represent the project team in operational meetings
  • Always represents the user point of view inside the team
  • Is able to communicate project status, issues, and solutions

We are looking for candidates with the following profile:

  • Minimum 4 year Higher Education
  • Minimum 9 years of relevant Professional Experience after the education
  • Web/interface designer, with knowledge of relevant graphical tools
  • Interface ergonomics (ideally certified)
  • Web styling technologies: CSS1-3, HTML
  • Web accessibility best practices and conformance levels
  • Responsive design methods
  • Analysis and design, with requirements gathering experience
  • Excellent knowledge of English

The following skills would be an advantage:

  • Agile methodology
  • Production of infographics
  • Web Content Management Systems (ideally Drupal)
  • JavaScript libraries
  • Using software versioning systems alongside a project team
  • Project management experience (ideally, a certification of any type)
  • Knowledge of French is considered an asset
