Mechanical Engineer- Powertrain Systems
A Mechanical Engineer with Powertrain Systems is required to work on a six month contract (with the possibility of extension) for our Defence client based in Telford.
Overview of the Mechanical Engineer contract role
- The individual will have an in depth knowledge of current industry codes of practice and standards and will be expected to have a specialist knowledge of applicable engineering design tools.
- Be responsible for the creation and definition of technical solutions, including: Propulsion and driveline system integration at the system and sub-system levels.
- Requirements management and production of technical specifications.
- Management of all technical issues with customers and suppliers.
- Modelling and simulation of propulsion and driveline systems.
- System design and integration into vehicle platforms.
- Acceptance and verification testing of systems.
- Consideration of safety, risk, reliability and maintainability associated with the technical solution, in conjunction with subject matter experts.
Key skills required for the Mechanical Engineer
- Degree or HND qualified in a relevant Engineering discipline with a minimum of 2 years engineering experience in a suitable engineering role.
- Significant drive and energy, strong systems and mechanical engineering skills, and the ability to deliver a diverse programme to demanding time, target cost and quality requirements are essential attributes to succeed.
- Advantageous
- Thorough understanding of automotive powertrain systems and their development including: Mechanical Automotive Systems and appropriate Defence Standards for military vehicles,
- Simulation and modelling of automotive powertrain systems and their performance,
- Specification and design of mechanical sub-systems,
