Job Summary
2nd/3rd level Oracle database support & administration activities, including support, administration and configuration of Oracle installations hosted on Solaris, HPUX and AIX operating systems.
Business as usual support including troubleshooting, tuning, patching and changes. In addition, support will be needed for project implementation activities.
The role has internal clients, however there may also be a requirement for face-to-face involvement with the end customer. A professional image will be required at all times, and the ability to communicate clearly and concisely whilst demonstrating expert knowledge within the Oracle product range is a key part of this role. Responsibilities include ownership of complex changes and implementations.
You will have good people management skills and will be working closely in managing deliverables from an offshore team. You will be dedicated and committed to delivering outstanding customer experiences.
This role is based in a multi-client delivery centre where production systems are maintained under a rigorous change management process. Strong skills in managing and resolving Oracle database related incidents are mandatory.
Key Responsibilities:
Providing 2nd/3rd level support, particularly during incidents
Planning, managing and performing daily tasks
Monitoring of systems
Undertaking capacity and performance management of Oracle database systems
Risk management and mitigation
Operational knowledge of patching processes
Management of hardware and software issues
Planning upgrades to Oracle systems
Producing and maintaining support documentation.
Checking the quality of documentation from rest of team to ensure fit for purpose
Reviewing and updating configuration information
Knowledge Transfer to less experienced team members
Qualifications:
Education: Good degree in relevant subject or appropriate Oracle database certifications or experience.
Work Experience:
Proven experience in supporting Oracle 9g, 10g, 11g, 12c on UNIX systems; AIX 5, 6 or 7, Solaris 9, 10, 11 and HPUX.
Knowledge of backups and restores of Oracle systems
Clusters
RMAN
Disaster Recoveries
Oracle migrations
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to plan and implement complex Oracle changes, including step-by-step planning
Professional attitude - co-operative and mature approach to work
Good fault finding skills in the Oracle/UNIX arena
Ability to work within a team and in co-operation with other teams/third parties
It is important to demonstrate previous experience in similar roles to be selected for interview
Additional Requirements:
Required to be on call on a rota basis
Able to be flexible with working hours to meet the needs of the business and its clients
There will be limited requirement to travel to client site data centres on occasions, although almost all of the work is otherwise performed remotely from the office
