Description

Safety Engineer required by our prestigious client in Portsmouth to assist the Safety Manager in the delivery of the various project Safety and Environmental programmes. You will be tasked to ensure project compliance with UK and International Legislation, coupled with project compliance with JSP 430, JSP 375, JSP 418, DEF STAN 00-56

Other duties will include acting as the lead on Hazard identification and Safety Assessments Review & Update ship/equipment/project hazard log with outputs from Hazard Identifications and safety assessments, update Equipment Safety Case Reports, Support T45 Platform Safety Manager at Safety Committee and working group meetings, Manage all safety related actions as instructed by Safety Manager Principle Accountabilities (6-8 areas).

The role holder will:

1.Support the Project Safety Manager in delivery of the Safety Programme

2.Update Ship/Equipment Safety Case Reports on behalf of customers and projects

3.Manage, update and regularly review Hazard log tools

4.To Facilitate and chair Hazard Identification meetings on behalf of customer and project.

5.Attend Project Safety Committee and working group meetings, and writing up minutes.

6.Provide additional focal point to project for Safety Management procedures

7.Provide project adherence to Life Cycle Management activities Functional Knowledge (Technical Qualifications & Experience)

It would be advantageous to hold an ngineering degree (ONC/HNC or equivalent) experience in Engineering

Experience of safety engineering within a marine environment.

Ship Safety Management ( SSMO) qualified

Working knowledge of MOD Safety & Environmental Management Systems

Understanding of MoD safety management activities and processes, ie JSP 430 and the ALARP process.
